Maximilian James

Electrical Subject Matter Expert (SME)

As an Electrical SME at CleanArc, Maximilian James oversees various aspects of data center electrical system design, while also working closely with the company’s cross-functional mechanical, civil, structural, controls, and architectural teams.

Prior to joining CleanArc, he spent three years at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where he managed infrastructure improvement projects in operational data centers before transitioning to High Voltage / Data Center Design Manager. In that role, he led teams of CSA+MEP design engineers working on data center substation and campus design packages, which included establishing and tracking design SOWs and project budgets, managing design delivery milestones and quality, construction implementation, and coordination with operations after facility hand-off. 

Maximilian also previously served as a Senior Power Systems Engineer at the Eaton Corporation, a global leader in power management and manufacturing. While at Eaton, he established his knowledge of power systems automation, while executing large-scale, complex power analysis studies in several markets, including hyperscale data centers.

Maximilian holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University’s Electrical Engineering program. He is also a Professionally Licensed Electrical Engineer.
